Telecom Law

The legal framework governing the telecommunications industry is known as Telecom or Telcom Law. In Pakistan, the primary legislation regulating the telecom sector is the Pakistan Telecommunications (Re-organization) Act, 1996 (PTA Act). This Act establishes the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA), which oversees and regulates all aspects of the telecommunications sector.

In addition to the PTA Act, which serves as the principal legislation for the telecom industry, there are several other regulations and statutes that may also apply depending on specific circumstances. These additional laws address various aspects of telecommunications and provide supplementary regulations to the PTA Act.
